(Perris, CA, June 14, 2011) A longtime popular Southern California version of "Motorized Mayhem," Figure 8 racing on dirt, will return to Perris Auto Speedway this Saturday, June 18th, as part of Night of Destruction 3. Saturday's "Bumper Bustin'" show will feature an open Figure 8 race, Trailer Figure 8 racing, a Demolition Derby and Demo Cross. Tickets for Saturday's fun event are priced at $9.00 for adults. Active military members with proper id, teens 13-18 with their school id and kids 6-12 will all get in for just $5.00. Children under 5 will be admitted free.

Until it closed at the end of the 1990 season, Figure 8 racing on dirt was a Sunday night staple at the legendary Ascot Park in Gardena. It was also a big hi at the Corona Raceway in the 1970s and 1980s. However, since the demise of those great tracks, there has been very little Figure 8 action on dirt in the greater Los Angeles area.
"At the last night of Destruction in April, we replaced the Rollover Contest with a Figure 8 Trailer race," Perris promoter Don Kazarian said with a smile. "It was absolutely crazy and the fans went wild. We decided to bring it back for this show and we are also adding an Open Figure 8 Race as well. Any race car that has four tires on it can enter the open race. It has generated a lot of interest and it is going to be a lot of fun. If all goes well and we get a lot of cars, who knows, we may bring Figure 8 racing back on a regular basis in 2012."
The Trailer Figure 8 race has one basic rule. The competing car or truck has to be pulling a trailer with something on it like a boat or pulling a camper. A car has to have his trailer/camper attached at the end of the race to be eligible for the win.
In addition to the Figure 8 races, Saturday's program will include a Demo Cross and a Demolition Derby. Demo Cross, which has no rules, will be contested around the track's inner quarter mile oval and will include some extra Whoop-De-Dos and obstacles. "In Demo Cross, if a driver wants to go the wrong way on the track to take out another driver or wait for another driver to take him out, it is all legal," Kazarian said laughing. "The fans were roaring when we ran it in April. If they thought that one was good, wait until they see the one we have planned for this Saturday."
Rounding out Saturday's show will be a Demolition Derby. It is a motorized "Street Fight" where cars wreck each other until there is only one car remaining and he/she is the winner. In an effort to get more cars involved in the Demolition Derby, rules for Saturday have been expanded to allow cars that have already participated in another Derby to compete.
