PASSCAR STOCKS AND IMCA MODIFIEDS AT
PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY SATURDAY!
By Scott
Daloisio
(Perris, CA, May 7, 2018)
After taking last weekend off, Perris Auto
Speedway swings back into action Saturday
when LKQ Pick Your Part Presents the
PASSCAR Super Stocks, Street Stocks,
American Factory Stocks and the IMCA
Modifieds. Spectator gates will open at
5:00 P.M. with racing at 7:00.
With the
exception of the Modifieds, who have run
two more races than the other classes thus
far in 2018, all the point races are tight
with five points being the biggest leaders
advantage in all three of the PASSCAR
classes. The tightest battle is in the
Super Stock class where a pair of San
Diego County drivers, Mike Lerwell of El
Cajon and Steve Worstell of Chula Vista,
are only separated by one point. Lerwell,
who was the class champion in 2016, won
the first race of the season on February
10th and came home second last month.
Worstell has two second-place finishes and
a third in the first three races of the
year. Cherry Valley veteran Danny Webster
is third in the standings and only trails
the leader by seven-points.

Riverside’s
Luke Dodd, a four-time track champion who
won all but one main event last year and
who won the first two this season, leads
rival Blaine Whitson of Temecula by five
points in the Street Stock standings.
Looking to make it three in a row for the
year in April, Dodd was sidetracked by a
flat tire that forced him to pit and
restart at the back of the pack before
finishing fifth. Whitson took full
advantage of the opportunity to win his
first PAS main event since 2016. Chris
Leventis of Rancho Palos Verdes is third
in the championship standings and is only
eight points behind the leader.
Temecula’s
Blaine Whitson won his first Street Stock
main since 2016 at The PAS on April 14th.

In the Factory
Stocks, Menifee’s Kris Carnish continues
to lead the standings as he seeks his
first ever PAS championship. In the first
three races of the year, the veteran has a
win, a second and a third-place finish and
will bring a seven-point advantage over
second-year driver Cameron Veatch of
Temecula into Saturday’s race. El Cajon’s
Todd Fassler, who was black flagged at the
last race for losing a muffler, is third
in the championship standings.

three in 2018 and leads the Factory Stock
Standings. Photo courtesy of Doug Allen.
Interesting
note for Saturday’s Factory Stock clash
will be the fact that point leader Carnish
will be competing against his girlfriend,
Kris Daves, for the first time as she
makes her racing debut.
Wrapping up
Saturday’s card will be the IMCA
Modifieds. It will be the fifth race for
the class in 2018 and Winnemucca, Nevada’s
Cory Sample, who has yet to finish out of
the top three in the first five races,
leads Yucaipa’s Chuck Becker by 16-markers
in the standings. Sample who won the last
race, finished second in the two races
prior to that and was third in each of the
first two races of the campaign. Currently
third in the standings is Ohio native and
two-time PAS Super Stock champ Terry
Hershberger of Corona.

Nevada’s Cory Sample won the last IMCA
Modified main event at The PAS on April 14
and leads the point standings. Photo

run hot laps, heats and main events on
Saturday and if applicable, B Mains as
well.
Adult tickets
are $15.00. For active military members
with proper id, teens 13-18 with their
school id and kids 6-12, it is just $5.00.

the fairgrounds is $8.00.
