Thursday and Friday
Qualifying:
All
cars will qualify two (2) laps. The faster of the two (2) laps will be
their qualifying time. If a car fails to take the green flag on its first
qualifying attempt, it may return within three (3) positions of its
originally drawn position, and will be given its normal two qualifying
laps. If the car fails to appear within said three (3) positions, it will
be allowed to attempt one qualifying lap at the end of the normal
qualifying period. D
Main: The
D Main will be for all cars Qualifying 57th and back up to a
total of 20 cars. The D Main will be 10 laps. The top 4 from the D Main
will tag the back of the C Main. C
Main: The
C Main will be for all cars Qualifying 41st – 56th
plus the top four cars from the D Main. The C Main will be 10 laps. The
top 4 from the C Main will tag the back of the B Main. Heat
Races: All
cars Qualifying in the top 40 will be in the heat races. There will be a
total of five (5) heat races with eight (8) cars per heat race. Each heat
race will be fully inverted. The top four in each heat race will transfer
to the twenty-five (25) lap A Main event. The cars finishing 5th
– 8th will go straight to the B Main. Each heat race will be
ten (10) laps. B
Main: The
B Main will have a total of 24 cars. All cars finishing 5th –
8th in the heat races will make up the lineup for the B Main
plus the four transfers from the C Main. The lineup will straight up based
on qualifying times. The top four (4) cars will transfer to the A Main.
The B Main will be twelve (12) laps. A
Main: The
A Main will have a total of 24 cars. The fastest six (6) cars that
transferred from the heat races will be inverted to make up rows 1-3. The
rest of the field (rows 4 – 12) will be lined straight up according to
qualifying times. The A Main will be twenty-five (25) laps. SATURDAY
NIGHT’S FORMAT “The
Elite Eight”: The
top eight (8) cars in points from Thursday and Friday are locked into
Saturday Nights A Main. Qualifying:

Races: All
cars qualifying in the top 32 will be in the heat races. All cars
qualifying 33rd and back will go directly to one of the B
Mains. There will be a total of four (4) heat races with eight (8) cars
per heat race. The top four
qualifiers will be inverted. The top two (2) in each heat race will
transfer to the forty (40) lap A Main event. The cars finishing 3rd
– 8th will go straight to one of the B Mains. Each heat race
will be ten (10) laps. Any car or driver that did not make a qualifying
attempt Thursday and Friday night will be delegated to tagging the back of
their respective B Main. B Mains The
B Mains will be all the remaining cars that have not transferred to the A
Main. The B Main Lineups will be based on total points including Saturday
night’s points. The odd point cars will be lined straight up according
to their points for the first B Main. The even point cars will be lined
straight up according to their points for the second B Main. Each B Main
will be twelve (12) Laps. The top four (4) cars from each B Main will
transfer to the A Main. saturday’s
A MAIN EVENT The
A Main will have a total of twenty-four (24) cars. The lineup for the
first four (4) rows will be the top eight (8) cars in points from Thursday
and Friday. The top six in points will be inverted. Rows 5 – 8 will be
the cars that transferred from the Heats and they will lineup according to
their total points. Rows 9 – 12 will be the cars that transferred from
the B Mains and they will line up according to their total points. The
A Main will be Forty (40) laps.
There will be no fuel stop for
excessive yellow flag laps. The Oval Nationals will be governed
by the Official Rule Book for the USAC National and CRA Series. Any
provisional starts in the Preliminary Mains on Thursday and Friday
night’s points will only be awarded for USAC National standings and
USAC/CRA standings. No Oval National points will be awarded for a
Provisional start. You must earn your way into the Thursday and Friday
night Mains to earn Oval National points for your starting position on
Saturday Night. |
