Auto Speedway promoter Don Kazarian recently announced a brand
new Modified class that will begin racing at the track in 2007.
The class will be sanctioned in house under the PASSCAR
banner, which also sanctions the track’s Late Model, Super
Stock, Street Stock and Cruiser classes.
The
popular Riverside County clay oval last hosted Modifieds under
the IMCA banner in 2005. The
new series will have rules very similar to those used in the
past at the track according to Kazarian.
“The rules will pretty much be the same with the
exception of two items. There
will be no claims on engines and the tire rule will be a bit
different.”
“A
lot of guys asked us to start a class for Modifieds and we
almost did in 2006,” Kazarian said.
“I did not do it then, but I had more people (drivers
and fans) ask me to bring them back, so we are going to do it in
2007. I think they are going to be a great addition to the
show.”
