1)
MODEL
a)
1964 or later American manufactured 4-door or 2-door with
independent front suspension. b)
No solid front axles. c)
Must be American manufactured with a minimum108” wheelbase. d)
No convertibles, station wagons or trucks. 2)
BODIES
a)
Must look manufacturer’s stock for year model used. Any body
can be used but must look stock appearing. b)
Fenders, doors and rear quarter may be interchanged with similar
models, such as Camaro to Firebird etc., as long as the end result looks
stock. May be fabricated as long as end result looks stock. Roof and
Nosecone MUST BE stock original Manufacture’s specifications. Roof
must be from A post to C post and must be tech approved. c)
T-tops and sunroofs allowed but must be welded closed with 20
gauge steel or better. d)
Cutting of interior sheet metal OK; driver must be enclosed.
Floor pan may be removed. There cannot be any sharp corners. e)
The dash and rear package tray may be replaced with sheet metal
or aircraft aluminum. f)
Body sheet metal may be trimmed for tire clearance a maximum of
5” above tire on both sides with the car in race ready position. Any
sheet metal removed from the fenders must conform to stock appearance. g)
All glass and chrome trim must be removed. h)
Hood and deck lids must have quick pull positive hold pins. Hood
and deck must be stock appearing. Hood scoops allowed. Air cleaner must
stay under hood or scoop, not through hood. Rear opening only. i)
Fiberglass, plastic, or composite material fenders, doors,
quarter panel or roofs OK. Fiberglass hood and deck lid OK. j)
Factory type spoilers front or rear allowed. Aluminum or Lexan
OK, not more than 6” high in rear. k)
Any bolts outside of body must be carriage bolts only. l)
No scrub rails allowed. No sharp corners will be allowed. 3)
BUMPERS
a)
Bumpers must be a minimum of .090 wall round tubing (11/2” to
2”) only. b)
Round tubing rear bumpers must have a hoop to protect fuel cells. c)
Front and rear bumpers must be mounted at approximately stock
height and location. Front and rear bumpers must have metal plating or
heavy belting securing the ends or the bumpers to the quarter panels. d)
Bumpers must have a 90-degree turn on each side. No sharp
corners. e)
Bumpers must not have sharp corners or ends no 90 degrees or
sharp ends. f)
Front and rear bumpers must have metal ends or heavy belting
securing the ends or bumpers to the quarter panels. g)
Front bumpers must
be behind the nose cover. 4)
GLASS
a)
All windows must be removed. b)
There is to be no glass on the racecar. c)
Full steel wire mesh minimum ˝” square to 1” square metal in
place of windshield is required and must cover the entire area of the
windshield. A post to A post must be tech approved. d)
Approved window net must be used at driver’s window, attached
to a roll cage at bottom and top, with release at top. e)
No string nets allowed. f)
Two (2) 1/8” x 1” steel straps mounted center of windshield
approximately 6” to 8” apart. 5)
NUMBERS
a)
Assigned numbers must be on both sides of cars and located on
doors. b)
Assigned numbers must also have 20” x 4” number located on
roof and a 4” number on front of car in approximate headlight area and
on the rear of car as well. c)
Minimum number size is 20”. d)
Member assigned numbers may not include any alphabetical digit,
i.e. “24x” etc., no
exceptions. e)
No three digit numbers will be acceptable. 6)
ROLL BARS
a)
A full roll cage is required. b)
There must be a minimum of three (3) driver sidebars and a steel
plate of a minimum of 1/8”x24”x30” in the left door area. Two (2)
bars must extend from the top of the roll cage to the rear of the frame
rails. One (1) bar must extend from the left side to the right side rear
of the roll cage at floor pan level for seat belt attachment. c)
One (1) diagonal bar is required across the rear of the roll cage
from the top to the bottom. One (1) bar must be installed from the left
side of the roll bar to the center part of the cross bar at shoulder
harness attachment. Additional roll bars may be added. d)
All roll bars are subject to safety technical inspection and
approval. e)
All radiator protection bars must be behind the bumper and under
front nosepiece. f)
All cage roll bar material must be a minimum or .090 wall steel
1-1/2” to 1-3/4” tubing. No galvanized pipe. Maximum tubing diameter
2”. No threaded pipefittings allowed. g)
All roll bar structure exposed to the driver must be padded with
approved padding. Two (2) uprights in the left side door. 7)
FRAME,
CHASSIS & SUSPENSION a)
The car must weigh a minimum or 3,000 lbs. with the driver at all
times. b)
Front and rear suspension must be similar to stock. c)
Front –
Stock front clip with unaltered lower A-arm mounts; stock lower A-arms:
steering box with drag link, two tie rods and idler arm. Tubular upper
A-arms allowed with stock ball joints only. All components must be stock
for the clip used. No after-market parts: no aluminum. d)
Rear –
2x2x.090 wall minimum; coil or leaf springs; shocks mounted as close to
stock location as possible. e)
Center
– 2x3x.090-wall minimum with full X under floor boards. All
interior metal .020 gauge minimum. f)
General – Weight jacks allowed – must be simple bolt, nut and
cup – No hydraulic adjusters allowed. No air adjusters allowed. g)
Fuel cell must have 6” crash zone between rear frame cross
member. Fuel cell must be 8” minimum from ground level. Fuel cell vent
must be equipped w/tipover check ball. h)
Rear end suspension one of three (1) Leaf (2) Four bar stock
style, or (3) Three bar with panard bar. No five bars allowed. 8)
SHOCKS
a)
Coil over, coil boosted or air shocks are not allowed. b)
Tie rod shock allowed as long as they are in stock location ONLY.
Heim joint shocks allowed. c)
Adjustable shocks are allowed. 9)
REAR END
a) Any stock passenger vehicle rear end is allowed. No posi-traction locker or ratchet rear-ends allowed. Steel spool, mini-spool or welded gears only. b)
No truck trailing arms allowed. 10)
STEERING
a) Steering must be mounted in stock location. b)
Power steering unit allowed. c)
Steering wheel must have a quick release. d)
Steering must be box type with idler wheel arm, drag link plus 2
tie rods. No rack and pinion steering. 11)
BRAKES
a) Must have three (3) wheel brakes in good working order. b)
Rear Disc brakes okay. c)
Shut off valve okay. 12)
ENGINES
a) Maximum engine size: 360 cubic inches. Compression 11.5 maximum. No big blocks. Engine must be all cast iron. b) Engine must match make of vehicle. GM to GM, Ford to Ford, Mopar to Mopar ect. c) Any cast iron head Ok no aluminum heads. Poly locks OK. No roller cams or roller lifters. d) Any rocker arms OK. e) No dry sump motors. f)
The number one spark plug must lineup with the left side ball
joint. 13) INTAKE MANIFOLD
a)
Any available after market aluminum manifold may be used. 14)
CARBURETOR
a)
Any 4 barrel carburetor. b)
Must have two (2) working return springs. 15)
EXHAUST
a) Exhaust must extend to rear of driver. b)
Modification to firewall or right side floor pan to accept
exhaust is OK. c)
Mufflers mandatory, maximum reading: 95-dB (A)@100’. d)
No part of the exhaust system allowed inside driver’s
compartment. 16)
IGNITION
a) Any battery-powered ignition is acceptable. b)
No magnetos. 17)
STARTER
a)
All cars must be equipped with a working starter and the starter
must be in its original stock position for the make and model of the
car. 18)
CLUTCH AND TRANSMISSION
a)
No torque tubes allowed. No push starting. Must have a
transmission. b)
A 1/4” steel scatter shield or safety blanket is mandatory,
covering 360 degrees of the clutch and flywheel assembly. 19)
DRIVELINE
a) Driveline strap required: one (1) at front of driveline and one (1) at rear of driveline within 12” of u-joint. b)
Must be made of 1/4” x 1” strap. c)
Driveline must be painted white and have a car number on it. d)
No aluminum driveline. Steel
Only. 20)
FUEL SYSTEMS
a)
Approved fuel cells mandatory. Fuel shall be racing (pump)
gasoline ONLY. b)
Fuel cells must be securely installed in the trunk compartment,
between the frame rails, with two (2) 1 x 1 square tubing .125 wall
straps, both lengthwise and crosswise. c)
Maximum fuel cell size: 22 gallons. d)
Fuel cell must be installed in a minimum 18 gauge sheet metal box
strapped in by 1/8” x 1” steel or better. e)
Filler spout must remain in the trunk area sealed off from the
driver. f)
It is recommended that the fuel line not run through the driver
compartment. Any routing through the driver compartment must be through
a rigid steel tube sealed at both firewalls and subject to safety tech
approval. Approved braided steel fuel line allowed. g)
Ground strap from frame to fuel cell neck required. Attach fuel
cap with ties to chassis. (If it comes off, you won’t lose it). h)
No electric fuel pumps allowed. i)
Fuel cells must have roll over check valves. 21)
WHEELS AND TIRES
a) Maximum wheel rim width is 8”. b)
Heavy-duty steel wheels only. c)
No magnesium or aluminum wheels allowed. d)
White spoke after market wheels allowed. e)
Wheel studs must be replaced with larger studs of 5/8”. f)
No inner liners and no screws allowed. g)
Bead locks allowed on all four wheels. Wheel width not to exceed
8” including bead lock. h)
All cars must run Hoosier dirt tires on all four wheels.
P245/60D15: P255/60D15; or P265/60D15. All Hoosier tires must be
purchased form Trackside Racing (714) 895-1190. i)
Only Hoosier tires approved by Perris Auto Speedway will be
allowed. 22)
COOLING SYSTEMS
a) Interchangeable radiator cores are allowed provided they do not alter body sheet metal. b) Radiator must remain stock appearing and be mounted in stock position and location. c) No altering of stock steel fan blades. d) Full fan shroud required. Fan must be in shroud. e) No plastic or aluminum fans allowed. Steel only. 23)
WEIGHT
a) Minimum weight of 3000 lbs. including driver, at any time. All ballast weight added to car must be mounted in a safe and secure manner. All mounting subject to strict inspection. b) All ballast weight must be painted white and must have a car number on each weight. c) No buckshot or wheel weights allowed. d) Ballast weight will be non-removable and subject to safety tech approval. e) All weight that fall out of car during a race will be fined $10.00 a pound. NO EXCEPTIONS. 24)
MISCELLANEOUS
a) Radios: No radios allowed in cars. b) Equipment will not be considered “legal” simply because it went through inspection unobserved or because a rule has not been written excluding it. c)
No interior or exterior rear view mirrors allowed. 25)
SEATS AND SAFETY EQUIPMENT
For all safety
equipment it will be the sole responsibility of the driver, not Perris
Auto Speedway, their agents/ officials or corporate officers to ensure
that his/her safety equipment is correctly installed, maintained, and
properly used. Please refer to manufacturer installation and usage
guidelines and adhere to them. A.
Seats 1)
Aluminum professionally built high back racing seat is mandatory.
No plastics, etc. 2)
Must be securely bolted to mount assembly, or secured in a manner
that is an integral part of the roll cage. 3)
A five-point safety harness with a quick release is mandatory.
3” wide lap belt, 2” or 3” shoulder harness and 2” sub
strap. All belts will be attached to the roll cage in an approved
manner, using minimum of 3/8” grade 8 bolts and safety cables. Subject
to tech approval. It is the driver’s owner’s obligation to have
belts re-certified or replaced every three- (3) years. 4)
Rear passenger seat must be removed. 5)
Padded headrest required. B.
Window Nets 1)
Window net Mandatory, minimum 1 inch mesh with release at top
front only. 2)
All window net releases must be the quick release seat belt type,
with release located and facing the outside of the car. 3)
No string nets or close net off road type nets allowed. C.
Helmets/Gloves/Suits/ Eye Protection 1)
Safety helmet must meet Snell 95 testing standards, bear proper
identification, and have no signs of previous damage. 2)
Two (2) layer fire suit is Mandatory at all times. No flight
suits allowed. 3)
Approved racing gloves Mandatory, no welding gloves, gardening
gloves, etc. 4)
Approved racing shoes or leather shoes required. No nylon shoes
permitted. 5)
Eye protection is mandatory, and must be in proper place at all
times. D.
Fire Extinguishers 1)
On board fire extinguisher (2lb) MANDATORY with quick release
mechanism, within drivers reach while strapped in. 2)
All cars will be required to have in their pits a minimum of one
5 pound, Halon or dry chemical fire extinguisher. This is to be visible
to tech officials, and all crewmembers must be aware of its location,
and knowledgeable in the use of the fire extinguisher. Sharing a fire
extinguisher between two pit areas is permissible as long as it is
Accessible to both, and both pits are aware of its location. E.
Car and driver will be required to make safety rule violations
comply, PRIOR to racing any event. 26)
INSPECTIONS
a) All cars are subject to inspection by Perris Auto Speedway at any time and in any manner determined by track officials. All decisions regarding the timing and manner of inspections, as well as which cars will be inspected is final. b) A competitor must take whatever steps requested by a track official, including tear down of a car, to facilitate inspection of the car at any time. c) Only those persons approved by track officials may be admitted into the inspection area. d) Perris Auto Speedway has the right to confiscate any part and/or equipment, which fail to meet applicable Perris Auto Speedway specifications during an event. e) Track officials mandate inspection after the event; if a car that has competed in the event is taken from the tech area without permission of a track official, the car and driver will be disqualified. f)
Any member who fails to tear down a car for inspection when
requested to do so by the track officials, a fine and/or loss of
championship points and /or definite suspension from Perris Auto
Speedway will result. 27)
DISCLAIMER The
rules and/or regulations set forth herein are designed for the orderly
conduct of racing events and to establish minimum acceptable
requirements for such events. The rules shall govern all entrants. NO
EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM PUBLICATION OF
OR COMPLIANCE WITH THESE RULES AND/OR REGULATIONS. They are intended as
a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee
against injury or death to a participant, spectator or official. The race director
shall be empowered to permit deviations from any of the specifications,
herein, or impose any further restriction, that in his opinion do not
alter the minimum acceptable requirements. NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED
WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM SUCH ALTERATION OF SPECIFICATIONS.
Any interpretation or deviations of these rules is left to the
