LKQ
PICK YOUR PART PRESENTS NIGHT OF
DESTRUCTION AND FAMILY FUN SATURDAY AT
PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY!
By Scott
Daloisio
(Perris, CA, April 24, 2017)
Another night of exciting fun for
the entire family is on tap when the chaos
returns to Perris Auto Speedway this
Saturday, April 29th, when LKQ Pick Your
Part Presents “The Night of Destruction”
featuring wild Figure 8 racing, a crazy
Figure 8 Trailer race, insane Demo Cross,
Formula-X Autocross & CrossKart racing and
Spectator races. Spectator gates for the
night of thrills and spills will open at
5:00 PM and the destruction will begin at
7:00.
The season
opening “Night of Destruction” in March
was one of the wildest in track history
and officials expect the same on Saturday.
Crashes and smashes were at every corner
and the racing was close all night long
leaving the fans on the edges of their
seats and hollering for more. They will
get their wish for more this Saturday.
“The first
Night of Destruction” was one of the
craziest we ever had,” promoter Don
Kazarian said. “Especially the Figure 8
main event and the Demo Cross main. The
fans were cheering and clapping throughout
each of them. The introduction of
Formula-X Autocross and CrossKart racing
was a hit as well. Especially with pro
skateboarder Bucky Lasek on hand and
winning the inaugural main event for that
class.”
Before the
racing starts on Saturday, fans will have
a chance to get an up-close look at the
cars, talk to the drivers, take photos and
get autographs at the on track photo and
autograph session that begins at 5:15.
Fans can also meet drivers and see some of
the cars from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM on
Friday, April 28th, at the LKQ Pick Your
locations in Fontana at 15228 Boyle Avenue
(92337) and in Rialto at 221 East Santa
Ana Avenue (92316). In addition to meeting
the drivers, LKQ Pick Your Part will be
giving away five family packages for
Saturday’s big event at each location.
The surprise
racer at the season opener in March was
Jesse Gordon of Yucaipa. The 25-year-pld
respiratory therapist at Kaiser Permanente
Riverside Medical Center has raced
Modifieds at The PAS for several years. In
March, he took his maiden voyage at “Night
of Destruction.” He got to the racetrack
late after getting off work and started at
the back in both the Figure 8 and Demo
Cross main events. He drove through the
pack in each class and finished second in
the Figure 8 main and won the Demo Cross
race. If that is not enough, he ventured
to the Barona Raceway last Saturday night
and won the Figure 8 main there.

Jesse Gordon passes a boat on his way to
winning the main event in his first ever
Demo Cross race at The PAS last month.

Earl Cox, the
2015 PAS Figure 8 champion and winner of
the season opening main event, will be
back on hand Saturday to try to make it
two in a row if he can survive the action
at the crowded intersection in the 20-lap
Figure 8 feature. The Norco based racer,
who grew up watching his father Earl Sr.
win Figure 8 races at Ascot, has a busy
week ahead of him getting his car ready
for Saturday. Since his win in March, the
second generation driver has been very
busy as his day job sent him to Cuba and
he just returned late last week to start
working on his racecar.
At the season
opener, Cox got tangled up with some of
the infield tires and nearly dropped a
full lap behind. Slowly but surely, he
passed car after car before taking the
lead from Gordon with only five laps to
go. Fourvideos footage of the season
opening Figure 8 main event is available
at the following link:

Norco’s Earl
Cox, shown here on the outside of Long
Beach racer Anthony Guisa, won the season
opening Figure 8 main event. Please give

2016 “Night of
Destruction” Iron Man champion David
Holmes of Norco got the surprise win in
the Figure 8 Trailer main at the season
opener. Menifee’s Ken McWilliams, the 2015
and 2016 Trailer Figure 8 race champion
who went undefeated in 2016, had the race
well in hand when he was slowed by a flat
tire on the last lap handing the season
opening victory to Holmes.
Spectator
racing will round out Saturday’s card and
it is just what it sounds like. Two street
legal cars on the track at one time. One
starts in the middle of the front straight
and one starts in the middle of the back
straight (they are separated so they do
not have to worry about crashing into each
other). The first car to complete two laps
moves on in the competition. Much like
drag racing, the field gets whittled down
to two cars and a winner takes all finale.
Adult tickets
for Saturday’s Night of Destruction are
$15.00. Active military members with
proper id, teens 13-18 with their school
id and kids 6-12 get in for $5.00.
Children 5 and under are free. Parking on
the fairgrounds is $8.00.
Advanced
tickets for Saturday’s event are available
24-hours a day by calling 1-800-595-4849
or online at
http://pas.tix.com/Event.aspx?EventCode=922993.
For those who do not wish to purchase
advance tickets, there will be plenty of
tickets available for everyone at the
ticket window on Saturday.
