LKQ PICK YOUR PART PRESENTS NIGHT OF DESTRUCTION SATURDAY AT PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY!
By Scott Daloisio

(Perris, CA, June 12, 2018) This Saturday night, June 16th, Perris Auto Speedway will host the “Craziest Show On Dirt” when LKQ Pick Your Part presents the popular “Night of Destruction.” Saturday’s wild program will feature fun for the whole family with daring Figure 8 racing, a wild Figure 8 Trailer race and insane Democross racing. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 P.M. and the first event will start at 7:00.

“The temperature is going to break and the weather looks great,” promoter Don Kazarian said on Tuesday afternoon. “It is over 100 degrees now, but the high Saturday is only supposed to be 77. That is perfect. We expect another great crowd for the show. They love it and there is nothing else like it.”

Going into Saturday’s race, Huntington Beach racer Kyle Cox sits on top of the heap in the prestigious Ironman standings which combines points for all three of the classes. He leads last year’s Ironman champion Jesse Gordon by 15 points. In addition, he is in the lead in the Figure 8 Trailer Race point standings. That one is a little bit closer as two-time champ Ken McWilliams of Menifee is a mere two-points behind Cox.

The above mentioned Gordon was a rookie in Night of Destruction action last season. He not only won the Figure 8 title, but the “Ironman” championship as well and he is the point leader going into Saturday’s race in the Figure 8 class. He leads Foothill Ranch racer Kevin Cox, Kyle Cox,’ father by six points. Despite his presence in the top four in the standings in all three classes, thus far 2018 has been rough for the respiratory therapist from Banning. He was involved in violent crashes in The PAS season opening Democross main event in April and two weeks ago in a Figure 8 race at the Barona Speedway. The crash at The PAS destroyed a race car and the tangle at Barona badly damaged another. Fortunately, the popular driver of the “Batmobile” was able to walk away from each with bumps and bruises.

In addition to Kevin and Kyle Cox, there are other members of the Cox clan involved in The PAS Night of Destruction. Earl Cox Jr. of Norco is Kevin’s brother and Kyle’s uncle. He also happens to be the all-time leader in PAS Figure 8 main event wins. The son of Ascot Figure 8 legend Earl Cox Sr., he uncharacteristically is tied for fourth in points in the Figure 8 class trailing Gordon, his brother Kevin and Long Beach veteran Anthony Guisa in the standings.

There is one other family tie to the Cox kinfolk at The PAS. Earl’s son in law, Brandon Lansford of Norco, is campaigning a past NASCAR Camping World Truck Series truck in Night of Destruction.

Rounding out Saturday’s program will be drivers in the Formula X Autocross & Crosskarts.

Fans are urged to come out early on Saturday. Soon after the gates open, there will be an on-track autograph and photo session where fans can meet, get the autographs, take photos and most of all, get to know all the drivers. The autograph session will begin at 5:15.

Adult tickets for Saturday are $15.00. Active military with proper id, teens 13-18 with their school id and kids 6-12 get in for just $5.00. Children 5 and under are free. Parking on the fairgrounds is $8.00.

Advance tickets are available online at https://pas.tix.com/Schedule.aspx?OrgNum=7 or by phone at 1-800-595-4849. For those who do not wish to purchase tickets in advance, there will be plenty for everyone at the ticket booth on Saturday night.
