NEW
NIGHT OF DESTRUCTION DIVISION DEBUTS
SATURDAY AT PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY
By Scott
Daloisio
(Perris, CA, July 24, 2018) When
LKQ Pick Your Part presents the next to
last full Night of Destruction at Perris
Auto Speedway this Saturday night, July
28th, fans will get a look at the future.
In addition to the Figure 8, Figure 8
Trailer, Democross and Formula X and
CrossKarts, spectators will see the maiden
voyage of the tracks new Night of
Destruction 4 Cylinder Mini Stock Class.
The new
division will be comprised of any 1970 or
newer American or foreign two or four-door
cars powered by four-cylinder engines. The
division will compete on the infield road
course used by the Formula X and
CrossKarts and it will be a contact class.
Drivers will be allowed to spin, push,
block and hit other competitors. Like its
big brother Democross, there will only be
four flags for the race. The green, white
and checkered flags and, if necessary for
safety, the red flag. There will be no
caution flags in the race.
“It is
something new we want to try,” promoter
Don Kazarian said. “It will give a lot
more people the chance to get out on the
track and race. The cars are all over and
can be had for cheap. The rules are very
simple (link to the rules
http://perrisautospeedway.com/rule/nod_ministock.html).
As long as we get 10 entries, the class
will pay $500.00 to win the main event,
$300.00 for second and $200.00 for third.
I am not sure how many cars we will have
to start with, but we have heard several
of our regular Night of Destruction
competitors are building them and we have
received some calls at the office from new
drivers who are putting cars together. It
will be a fun class and I certainly look
forward to seeing it become quite big as
well.”
After the last
Night of Destruction on July 4th, the
driver to watch coming into Saturday’s
program is Beaumont’s Jesse Gordon. At the
Independence Day event, Gordon , who
drives the popular “Batmobile,” scored a
clean sweep winning the Figure 8, Figure 8
Trailer and Democross main events. He
became the first driver in the history of
Night of Destruction at The PAS to sweep
all three mains in one night.
Beaumont
respiratory therapist Jesse Gordon is
closing in on his second straight PAS
Figure 8 title driving the "Batmobile."

A rookie to
the Night of Destruction wars in 2017,
Gordon won the Figure 8 championship. In
addition, he also won the Night of
Destruction “Iron Man” title which
combines points for all three classes.
Things have
been working out well for the 26-year-old
respiratory therapist in the Figure 8
class in 2018 where he has won three of
the first four main events and finished
second in the other. Heading into
Saturday’s race, he is in the driver’s
seat for his second straight title in the
division as he has a 30-point lead over
Foothill Ranch driver Kevin Cox.
In the Figure
8 Trailer class, Cox’ son Kyle of
Huntington Beach is a mere two points
ahead of two-time defending champion Ken
McWilliams of Murrieta with two races to
go. Gordon follows in third, but he is
21-points behind Cox.
As well as
leading the Figure 8 Trailer championship
chase, Kyle Cox currently sits on top of
the overall “Iron Man” standings as well
and carries a nine-point advantage over
Gordon as they prepare for Saturday. The
next closest competitor is 2015 “Iron Man”
champion Ryan Kinnett who is 179-points
behind the leader.
Adult tickets
for Saturday’s show are $15.00. For active
military with proper id, teens 13-18 with
their school id and kids 6-12, it is just
$5.00. Children five and under are free.
Parking on the fairgrounds is $8.00.
Advance
tickets are available online at

or by phone at 1-800-595-4849. For those
