PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY COMBINES DIRT TRACK RACING AND BICYCLE GIVEAWAYS SATURDAY! By Scott Daloisio (Perris, CA, April 30, 2019) Perris Auto Speedway will be back at it again this Saturday night, May 4th, as it will again be combining dirt track racing with kids at the PASSCAR Stock Car Series/IMCA Modified race. All kids 12-years-old and under will be entered in a drawing for a free bicycle. During intermission, some lucky girls and boys will be winners and will take a new bike home. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 P.M. and racing will start at 7:00. Saturday’s show will be the second for the PASSCAR Street Stocks, Super Stocks, American Factory Stocks and the IMCA Modifieds at The PAS in 2019. Two weeks ago, Riverside’s Justin Dunn took home the first-place trophy in the Modifieds, Luke Dodd, who also lives in Riverside, won in the Street Stocks, Tom “Slick” Smith of Norco captured the Super Stock main and Darren Myers of Anaheim emerged triumphant in the Factory Stocks. Doug Allen Photography. “We had a nice car count on opening night, especially in the Modifieds and Street Stocks” promoter Don Kazarian said. “I cannot recall the last time we had to have B-mains for both the Street Stocks and Modifieds on the same night. It was a great start to the year with all of the cars and hopefully, that is a trend.” “We had a lot of kids in the grandstands who collected Easter candy from the drivers at intermission,” Kazarian added. “Giving some extra incentive to get kids into the grandstands will not only make some of them fans for life, but we will probably also see some of them on the track when they are old enough. We have lots of drivers in both our sprint car and stock car programs who started off by being fans in the grandstands.” At press time, eight bikes were being given away. Four from the track and four from veteran Modified racer Dale Underwood and his wife Tina. Every class will contest heat races and 20-lap A main events on Saturday. If applicable, they will also run B-main events. Adult tickets for Saturday’s race are $15.00. For active military members with proper id and their spouse or date, it is $5.00 each. Teens 13-18 with their school id and kids 6-12 also get in for $5.00. Children 5 and under are free. Parking on the fairgrounds is $8.00. If you do not wish to buy tickets in advance for any race, there will be plenty of tickets for everyone at the ticket window on race night. The track is conveniently located on the SoCal Fair and Event Center (home of October’s Southern California Fair), approximately one hour east of Los Angeles and one-hour North of San Diego. To get to the track, take the 215 freeway, on the Ramona Expressway and go three miles east to the fairgrounds.
