FINAL
NIGHT OF DESTRUCTION FOR 2019 SATURDAY,
SEPTEMBER 28!
By Scott
Daloisio
(Perris, CA, September 22, 2019)
They say that “Time Flies” and “All Good
Things Must Come to an End.” That
certainly applies to Saturday night,
September 28th, at Perris Auto Speedway,
when LKQ Pick Your Part Presents the final
Night of Destruction for 2019. The night
of family fun will feature Figure 8
Racing, a Figure 8 Trailer race, Mini
Stocks, crazy Democross and the popular
Double Deckers. In addition, there will be
a special Demolition Derby with proceeds
benefiting the American Cancer Society.
Spectator gates will open at 5:00 P.M. and
the crashing will start at 7:00.

Destruction action at Perris Auto
Speedway. Doug Allen Photo.
The added
Demolition Derby will feature a twist as
there will be an auction for someone to
get into one of the cars and compete in
the derby. Safety equipment will be
supplied and all the proceeds from the
auction will go straight to the American
Cancer Society.
“It seems like
we just kicked off the new season on a
chilly night in February,” promoter Don
Kazarian said. “Now seven months later, we
are closing the best season of Night of
Destruction to date. We have added two new
classes this year, the Double Deckers and
Mini Stocks, and they have proved to be
very popular. In addition, our regular
Figure 8 class has been adding fast cars.
In August we had one of the best Figure 8
Trailer races in years and Democross is
just as popular as always. It is sad to
see the Night of Destruction season coming
to an end.”
“The
championships have been tight all season
long,” Kazarian continued. “It will come
down to the final night in four of the
classes, so that, along with the
Demolition Derby, is going to make it even
more fun and exciting than usual.”
The only
championships that are locked up or are
close to being locked up, are the Overall
Iron Man Champion and the Figure 8s. Kyle
Cox of Huntington Beach has already sewed
up the title in the Iron Man for the
second year in a row and respiratory
therapist Jesse Gordon of Beaumont has a
commanding 37-point lead as he seeks his
third straight championship in the Figure
8s.
Cox is trying
to sew up the Figure 8 Trailer title for
the second year running, but he has a
precarious three-point lead over Gordon in
the championship standings. Cox has one
win in the first six races and Gordon has
two.
Like the
Figure 8 Trailers, Cox is trying to take
the Democross championship for the second
straight season. He has a tad more
breathing room in that class as he leads
J.D. Wilson by a dozen points. Crowd
favorite Wilson, the 80-year-old retired
airline pilot from Costa Mesa, has three
wins on the year and Cox has two.
Despite
winning three of the first six Mini Stock
main events, Michael Hartfield of Menifee
is 12-points behind Chino’s Alan Mahoney
going into Saturday’s finale. In the
Double Deckers, Mahoney and Rick Melgrin
are tied for the lead with the popular
“Couples Therapy” team of husband and wife
Jason and Caroline Cahalan of Murrieta.
All drivers
will contest heat races and main events at
Saturday’s fun show.
Before the
races at 5:15, fans will be allowed onto
the racetrack for an on-track autograph
and photo session with all the drivers.
Adult tickets
are $15.00. For active military with
proper id and their spouse or date, it is
only $5.00 each. For teens 13-18 with
their school id and kids 6-12, it is also
only $5.00. Children 5 and under are
admitted free. Parking on the fairgrounds
is $8.00. Fans can order advance tickets
24-hours a day online at the following
