PASSCAR STOCK CAR SERIES AND IMCA MODIFIED OPENER AT PERRIS SATURDAY By Scott Daloisio (Perris, CA, March 9, 2020) After a successful opening night last weekend, Perris Auto Speedway’s historic 25th Anniversary season will continue this Saturday night, March 14th, when the PASSCAR Stock Car Series and IMCA Modifieds make their 2020 debut. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 P.M. and the first race will get the green flag at 7:00. Saturday’s four-class show will feature the PASSCAR sanctioned Super Stocks, Street Stocks, American Factory Stocks and the IMCA Modifieds. All classes will contest heat races and A Main events (B Mains as well if applicable). In addition to the racing, at intermission the tracks cross over gates will open and the drivers will park their cars on the front straightaway to pass out free candy to the kids in attendance. Saturday’s show will include the first guaranteed $1,000.00 to win Super Stock main event. Over the winter The PAS was contacted by a Super Stock fan who wanted to remain anonymous. The caller pledged that all Super Stock mains will pay $1,000.00 to win in 2020. Also, all cars starting the Super Stock mains will get paid. In addition, the same person added $2,000.00 to the Super Stock season champion’s bonus check at the end of the year. Combined with The PAS $1,000.00, the Super Stock champion will receive $3,000.00 after November’s final race. Defending Super Stock Champion will be one of the favorites for Saturday's $1,000.00 to win main event. Doug Allen. Other big news for Saturday’s opener includes the debut of Norco High School senior Alyssa Smith in the IMCA Modified class. One of the, if not the most popular driver on stock car nights, she is moving up from the PASSCAR Street Stock class. Now known as the “Hot Rod Blonde,” Smith burst onto the scene at The PAS when she won the 2015-16 Winter Series Factory Stock championship. To add intrigue to her Modified debut is the fact that one of her competitors will be her father Tom “Slick” Smith. The seasoned veteran was the PASSCAR Street Stock champion in 2003 and one year later he won The PAS IMCA Modified title. In addition, he is also a past champion in the Figure 8 class at the Irwindale Speedway. Tickets for Saturday’s show are $15.00 for adults. For active military members with proper id and their spouse or date, it is only $5.00 each. Teens 13-18 with their school id and kids 6-12 also get in for $5.00. Children 5 and under are free. The fairgrounds charges $10.00 for parking. Upcoming at The PAS! Sprint cars will open their 2020 PAS campaign with the NOS Energy Drinks World of Outlaws and the Amsoil USAC/CRA Series on March 28.
