NIGHT OF DESTRUCTION AND HALLOWEEN TRICK OR TREATING THIS SATURDAY AT PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY
By Scott Daloisio

(Perris, CA, October 26, 2021) Every time LKQ Pick Your Part presents “Night of Destruction,” not only is it a racing event, but it is a large, fun-filled party. This Saturday night, October 30, the party will be gigantic! In addition to the racing, at intermission kids will be allowed onto the track for “Halloween Trick or Treating” with all the drivers and cars. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 p.m. and the first race will be at 7:00. The “trick or treating” will be at approximately 8:00 p.m. Four lucky kids will receive prizes for the best costumes.

“With Halloween being on Sunday, this will be a great chance for families to come out and enjoy some “trick or treating” with all of our drivers on Saturday,” promoter Don Kazarian said. “It is a safe way for kids to have fun. Not only is it fun for them, but our drivers love it as well. Kids can expect 60 to 70 cars to “trick or treat” at. The parents need to be sure to bring a decent size bag with them for all of the candy and goodies the kids will collect.”

“As soon as the “trick or treating” is over, the drivers will get back in their cars for the main events,” Kazarian continued. “How many other sports do you know where kids can meet athletes and then cheer them on a few minutes later as they compete? It makes a huge impression on the kids and makes heroes of the drivers. We do the meet and greets at every race, but Halloween, with all the costumes, is the big one. These events help us create fans for the future. Ever since we started having our fans meet the drivers on the track at all our races, we have noticed a lot more younger adults and more children in attendance.”

There will be costume contests for kids on Saturday with prizes to the winners. The categories will be girls 8 and under, girls 9 to 12, boys 8 and under and boys 9-12.

In addition to the “trick or treating” five popular classes of Night of Destruction cars will be in action. There will be daring Figure 8 races, a crazy Figure 8 Trailer race, wild Mini Stocks, rough & tumble Demo Cross and the crowd favorite, zany Double Deckers. All five classes will contest main events and all, but the Figure 8 Trailers, will also contest heat races.

Leading the way in the Figure 8 class will be Norco’s Earl Cox. The track’s first Figure 8 champion in 2015 he has a comfortable 30-point lead over Riverside’s Roger Storey. Cox’s brother Kevin, who resides in Foothill Ranch, is third. The top five is rounded out by “The Doctor of Love,” Anthony Guisa of Long Beach and two-time Figure 8 Trailer champion Ken McWilliams of Menifee.

Things are much tighter in the Figure 8 Trailer class where Josh Foote of Orange has a narrow nine-point advantage over Whittier’s Douglas Schattilly. “Dangerous” Dan Pachella of Long Beach, who drives a hearse, is third. Rancho Cucamonga’s Brian Kedzior and McWilliams are fourth and fifth.

Jason Schmitz is in first place in the championship standings in the Mini Stocks coming into Saturday’s race. He has a commanding 66-point lead over fellow Hemet resident Austyn Jaramillo. Colton’s Lanny Savage and Larry Lewis of Riverside are tied for the fourth spot. Hemet’s Corey Denny is fifth.

In the tough Demo Cross class, Wildomar veteran Weston Hughes has been in the lead since the start of the season. Schattilly is second and trails the leader by 30-points. Moreno Valley’s Trebor Stephens, Austin Kincade of Riverside and Foote occupy positions three through five.

The father and son team of Michael and Daryll Berna of Corona lead the way in the Double Deckers.
