MARCH 5 NIGHT OF DESTRUCTION OPENS PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY SEASON By Scott Daloisio (Perris, CA, February 23, 2022) Perris Auto Speedway will open its 26th season of racing and clean family fun when LKQ Pick Your Part Presents a wild Night of Destruction on Saturday, March 5th. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with racing and crashing beginning at 7:00. There will be an on-track autograph and candy giveaway session featuring all the drivers and cars from 5:15 to 5:45. Tabbed as the “Craziest Show On Dirt,” the season opener will feature fierce Figure 8 racing, a crazy Figure 8 Trailer race, the thrill a minute Mini Stocks, ferocious Democross, and the zany Double Deckers. This week’s season opener is a welcome relief for promoter Don Kazarian and his staff after chaos and uncertainty reigned the past two years due to Covid. “Two years ago this weekend we opened the season with rumors of the severity of Covid swirling in the air,” Kazarian said on Monday morning. “By the next week we had to shut down and we were unable to open again in 2020. Last year our season opener was delayed by nearly two months. In reality, we were closed for nearly a year and a half and we were faced with uncertainty. Being able to open on time this year is a welcome change.” It is also a relief for the competitors and the fans. Drivers had their cars and trucks ready to go only to have to sit home on Saturday nights. The same for the fans, they wanted to get to the track and enjoy the show. This year, everyone will get to be at the first race on the schedule on time to enjoy a wild Night of Destruction and hopefully a full season that will follow. “Not only was the delay hard on us, but it was also hard on all of the competitors and the fans,” the veteran promoter lamented. “For the drivers with their cars ready to go, it was like a kid getting a toy for Christmas and being told they could not play with it. The fans were in the same boat. They wanted to come out and have fun, but they were unable to do so. Our phones were ringing, and our social media was filled with questions wondering when we were going to start having races again. It was sad having to tell them that we did not know.” Tickets for next week’s season-opening event are $20.00 for adults. For kids 6-12 it is just $5.00. Children 5 and under are free. The fairgrounds charges $10.00 for parking. Advance tickets for the first three months of racing at Perris Auto Speedway are on sale now. For fans who do not wish to purchase tickets in advance, there will be plenty available for everyone at the gate each race night.
