PASSCAR AND IMCA STOCK CARS RETURN TO PERRIS SATURDAY - FREE BICYCLE GIVEAWAY By Scott Daloisio (Perris, CA, June 1, 2022) This Saturday night, June 4th, Perris Auto Speedway will host round #4 of eight stock car races for the 2022 season. The night of dirt track racing and clean family fun will include the PASSCAR Super Stocks, PASSCAR Street Stocks/IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Sport Compacts and the PASSCAR American Factory Stocks. It will be the last chance to see stock cars at The PAS until they open the second half of the season on August 27th. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM and the first race will be at 7:00. During intermission, fans will be able to meet the drivers and see the cars up close at the on track autograph and candy giveaway session. Also at intermission, drivers Andrew Schmitz, Ken McWilliams, David Stites, David & Shawn Uraine, and James from the Night of Destruction crew will randomly select 10 children and present them with brand new bicycles. Last month in addition to great races in all the main events, two of the four – super stocks and street stocks – saw spectacular crashes. While the cars involved in the crashes suffered extensive damage, all the drivers walked away uninjured. Thus far in 2022, the biggest class has been the PASSCAR Super Stocks. Through the first three races, the class has produced three different winners. Riverside’s Tyson Talkington won the season opener in March. In April, Beaumont’s Rickie Lee took home the checkered flag. Last month the win went to Yucaipa’s Rick Becker driving the only convertible at the track. Super Stock point leader Tyson Talkington. Kenny Lonngren photo. Talkington, a past first division speedway motorcycle racer, currently has a slim seven-point lead over Lee in the championship standings. Becker is third and trails Lee by four points. Temecula’s Blaine Whitson, who has one PASSCAR Super Stock and two Street Stock championships to his credit, is fourth. Riverside’s Tom Davis, arguably the most improved super stock driver at the track this year, is fifth. In the PASSCAR Street Stocks/IMCA Stock Car class, the Kelly family of Moreno Valley is undefeated through the first three races. Brandon Kelly, the defending class champion, won the first and third races of the season. Sandwiched in between was the first-ever win for his father Doug. While they have all the wins, they do not lead the points. In the first three races, Rancho Palos Verdes veteran Chris Leventis has a second, a third, and a fourth and holds a one-point lead over Brandon heading into the final race before the summer break. Austyn Jaramillo of Winchester, who jumped up from Night of Destruction to the Factory Stocks this year, has a two-point lead over Menifee’s Joseph Pack in the championship standings. Jason Cook of San Jacinto, winner of the first race of the season, is currently third and is only four-point behind Jaramillo. Aaron Pack of Perris and Colton’s Lanny Savage are tied for fourth. David Stites, who resides in Canyon Lake, has won the last two races. However, since he missed the season opener, he is tied for sixth in points with Nuevo’s Ethan Kintop. Finger and McWilliams have one win each and they are ranked first and second (McWilliams is first with Finger second) in the IMCA Sport Compact California State standings. Another newcomer, Ava Laney of Huntington Beach, who won her car in an auction, is third and is only eight points out of first. Kids 6 to 12 get in for $5.00 and children 5 and under are free. There will be plenty of tickets available at the ticket window on Saturday night, this event will not sell out.
