PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY OPENS THE SECOND HALF OF THE SEASON SATURDAY By Scott Daloisio (Perris, CA, August 7, 2022) After a six-week summer break, racing returns to Perris Auto Speedway this Saturday night, August 13th, when LKQ Pick Your Part Presents Night of Destruction. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with racing at 7:00. The most popular show at The PAS, Night of Destruction is a wild affair that features figure 8 races, a figure 8 trailer race, demo cross (a cross between a demolition derby and an oval race), mini stocks, and the crowd favorite double deckers. The double-deckers feature one car on top of another car. The person in the bottom car controls the throttle and the brakes. The person in the top car controls the steering. Kenny Lonngren photo. “We are recharged and ready to go with the second half of the season,” longtime promoter Don Kazarian said. “From now until we end our season on the second weekend in November, we will be here all but two Saturday nights. We kick it off with Night of Destruction. Over the years it has grown into our most popular show. It is two and a half hours that combines dirt track racing with lots of legal crashing. It is just plain old clean family fun. Everybody who comes out to see it leaves with a smile on their face.” Initially, Night of Destruction was a two-time per year event. As it grew in popularity, it picked up more and more dates. Today it has become a part of the track’s regular rotation of events that also features the sprint car & modified shows along with the stock car programs. “When we started Night of Destruction, it was just a one off,” Kazarian laughed. “Right from the start, demand dictated that we had to expand it. The fans wanted more of it and the drivers did too. It just kept on growing. We expanded it a couple of times before we made it a regular part of the schedule and now it is our most popular program.” Fans are encouraged to come out early on Saturday so kids can collect free candy, get autographs, and meet all the drivers on the track from 5:15 – 5:45. Practice will commence soon after that and the destruction will start promptly at 7:00. Advance tickets for all Perris Auto Speedway events, including this Saturday, are on sale now.
