									  TWO MORE
CHAMPIONSHIPS WILL BE DECIDED AT PERRIS
									  AUTO SPEEDWAY THIS SATURDAY
									  By Scott Daloisio

									  (Perris, CA, September 19, 2022)
Fresh off Randy Thornell sewing up the
									  IMCA/PAS Modified championship at Perris
Auto Speedway last week, the track will
crown two more champions this Saturday,
September 24th. The titles that will be
decided on Saturday are the PASSCAR/IMCA
Stock Cars and the IMCA Sport Compacts. In
addition to those two classes, the PASSCAR
Super Stocks and American Factory Stocks
will also be in action in the quadruple
header show. Spectator gates will open at
5:00 p.m. and racing will begin at 7:00.
The PAS/IMCA Stock Car title comes
down to a two-driver shootout. Defending
champion Brandon Kelly of Marino Valley,
and Chris Leventis from Rancho Palos
Verdes. Kelly carries a one-point lead
									  over Leventis entering Saturday’s
competition. He has won four of the five
races in the class this year including the
last one on August 27th. However, in the
one race he did not win, he placed eighth.
That is why Leventis, who has finished
second three times and never worse than
fourth, remains so close. They came into
the last race tied for the point lead.
Kelly took that win with Leventis second.
Thus, Kelly brings a one-point advantage
									  into this week’s race.

second pass title on Saturday. Kenny

  The other tight
battle that will be decided is in the IMCA
Sport Compact class. Rookie Edward Finger
of Temecula leads Menifee veteran Ken
McWilliams by just four points going into
the race. In five races this year at The
PAS, upstart Finger has never finished
worse than second. He started off the
season finishing second in the first two
races but has since reeled off three
									  straight wins. McWilliams, a powerlifter
who recently started working for the Hemet
Police Department, has recorded a win, two
second-place finishes, and a third going
									  into Saturday’s showdown.
  While
both of those classes will decide the IMCA
portion of the championship on Saturday,
they will have one more race on October
22nd to decide the PASSCAR champion in
both classes. In addition, the PASSCAR
Super Stock and American Factory Stock
titles will be decided at the October
									  race.
  Past speedway motorcycle
racer Tyson Talkington of Riverside has a
									  comfortable 18-point advantage over
Beaumont’s Ricky Lee in the super stocks.
However, the class features the largest
fields, extremely fast cars, and sometimes
no holds barred racing. Anything can
happen with two races to go. Talkington,
who won the season opener, has been the
most consistent driver in the class in
2022. In addition to his victory, he has
two second place and two third-place
finishes in the other four races. Lee has
one win, three 5th place finishes, and a
									  sixth. Last Saturday night, Talkington
traveled to the Mojave Valley Raceway in
Arizona and won the main event there over
									  teammate Tom Davis of Riverside.

The tightest points battle at the track is
in the American Factory Stocks. Not only
are two drivers tied for the point lead
going into the last two races of the year,
but the driver in third is only one point
behind them. In addition, the fourth-place
driver is only seven points adrift of the
leaders. Ironically, only one of the four
has won a main event this year. The driver
with that honor is David Stites of Canyon
Lake who has three victories. However,
engine problems knocked him out of the
last race and that left Joseph Pack of
Menifee and Colton’s Lanny Savage tied at
the top with 83-points apiece. Stites is a
single point behind. Nuevo’s Ethan Kintop
is fourth, seven points behind the lead
									  duo.
In addition to the racing, as
always at intermission, the drivers will
bring their cars onto the front
straightaway. Fans will be allowed onto
the racetrack to meet the drivers, get
									  autographs, and take photos. Additionally,
the drivers will have free candy to pass
									  out to the kids.
  Adult tickets for
Saturday’s show are $20.00. For kids 6 to
12, it is just $5.00. Children 5 and under
are admitted free. There will be plenty of
tickets available for everyone at the
ticket window on Saturday, this event will
not sell out. For those who wish to
									  purchase advance tickets, they are
available 24 hours a day online at
