LKQ
PICK YOUR PART PRESENTS NIGHT OF
DESTRUCTION AT PERRIS THIS SATURDAY
By Scott Daloisio
#saveperris
(Perris, CA, October
11, 2022) With the 2022 racing
season winding down faster than a Michigan
thermometer in January, fans only have two
more chances to see Night of Destruction,
Presented By LKQ Pick Your Part, this
season. One of those chances is this
Saturday, October 15th, at 7:00 PM.
Spectator gates for the “Craziest Show On
Dirt” will open at 5:00 PM and the first
crash will be at seven.
Besides the
crashes, racing, and more crashes, the
night of clean family fun includes a free
candy giveaway and autograph session with
all the drivers on the track from 5:15 to
5:45. Mom and dad are encouraged to bring
large sacks for the kids as all the cars
and drivers participate.
With two
races to go, the points championships for
2022 are wide open in all five of the
Night of Destruction classes.
After his win at the fair last Sunday
night, Michael Schattilly of Whittier has
advanced his lead in the Demo Cross
standings to 18-points over San Jacinto’s
Trebor Stephens. Stephens established a
lead early in the season by winning three
of the first four races. Schattilly has
captured the last two. Riverside’s Brian
Kedzior, who drives a former Irwindale
Speed Truck, is third and trails the
leader by 36-points.
In posting his
win in the rough and tumble Demo Cross
race before a large crowd at the fair,
Schattilly did so against the odds. He had
a flat right front tire early in the race
but kept pushing on. In a scene
reminiscent of a Southern California
freeway chase, the tire eventually came
off and Schattilly finished the last half
of the 20-lapper riding on the rim.

Michael Schattilly who won the Fair Demo
Cross on Sunday. Doug Allen photo.
Local Roger Storey has built up a 15-point
lead over Foothill Ranch veteran Kevin Cox
in the Figure 8 class. Kedzior is
currently third in the standings,
27-points out of first. In the companion
Figure 8 Trailer class (where cars and
trucks compete with trailers attached
behind), things are a lot tighter. Kedzior
is tied for first with Schattilly. Rob
Multhaupt Jr. of Orange is only nine
points behind.
In the road course
racing mini-stocks, Kameron Perry has the
biggest advantage of any driver with just
wo races remaining in the season. The
Riverside resident has a comfortable
45-point lead over fellow Riverside
resident Cale Skillman. Hemet’s Corey
Denny is third and trails the leader by
51-points.
Rounding out the classes
are the extremely popular Double Deckers.
One car is stacked on top of another with
the driver in the bottom controlling the
throttle pedal and the brakes while the
driver in the top steers. With two races
remaining, the Ghost Busters Car has a
nine-point lead over Cadzilla. Bug Ya’
Later is third.
Kedzior has a
comfortable 78-point lead over Schattilly
in the Overall Iron Man standings heading
into the final two events of the year.
Multhaupt is third and trails Schattilly
by 123-points.
Adult tickets for
Saturday’s “crasharama” are $20.00. For
kids 6 to 12 it is just $5.00. Children 5
and under are admitted free. The
fairgrounds charges $10.00 for parking.
Advance tickets are available 24 hours a
day by calling 1-800 595-4849 or by
clicking on the following link
https://www.tix.com/ticket-sales/pas/7.
For fans who do not wish to buy tickets in
advance, there will be plenty available
