NIGHT OF DESTRUCTION FINALLY MAKES 2023 PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY DEBUT THIS SATURDAY By Scott Daloisio (Perris, CA, April 17, 2022) After a six-week delay due to rain, Perris Auto Speedway will host its first 2023 Night of Destruction presented by LKQ Pick Your Part, this Saturday, April 22. The night of motorized mayhem and clean family fun will include daring figure 8 racing, chaotic mini stock road racing, no rules-hard-hitting demo cross, thrilling mini stock figure 8s, and of course, the crowd favorite, zany Double Deckers. Spectator gates for the night of chaos will open at 5:00 p.m. and the first crash will be at 7:00. Wild double deckers will be in action this Saturday at Perris Auto Speedway. Doug Allen photo. The fun will kick off from 5:15 – 5:45 when all fans will be allowed onto the track to collect free autographs & candy from the drivers and to get a close look at all the cars. “After a long delay, we finally get to see Night of Destruction,” longtime promoter Don Kazarian said. “The weather looks super and we are looking for a great crowd to kick off what we think is going to be a great show. We came within a day of being able to host the opener on March 11th, but a heavy rain storm the day before made it impossible to race. Saturday is different with sunny skies and a high temperature of 83 degrees predicted. It will be perfect.” “The only change in Night of Destruction for 2023 will be mini stock figure 8s replacing the trailer figure 8 race,” Kazarian stated. “The trailer class dwindled over the past few years while the mini stock class has been growing. Some of the mini-stock guys asked us if they could have their own figure 8 race. There was a special figure 8 for mini stocks at the fair last year. After we saw the size of the field, how crazy the race was, and how much the fans enjoyed it, we decided to add them to this year’s shows. We think the fans will love them.” Defending 2022 Night of Destruction champions Roger Storey (figure 8) of Riverside, Whittier’s Michael Schattilly (demo cross), Kameron Perry of Riverside (mini stocks), Brian Kedzior, also of Riverside, (overall Iron Man champ) and the Ghost Busters champion double decker are all expected to be in action on Saturday. “I think we will have a great car count on Saturday,” Kazarian said. “We had a lot of cars that were ready for the originally planned season opener six weeks ago. The extra time has allowed more drivers to get their cars finished as well. It is going to be a night filled with lots of wild crashes, great racing, and fun for the whole family.” Adult tickets for Saturday’s Night of Destruction are $20.00. Kids 6-12 get in for $5.00 and children 5 and under are free. The fairgrounds charges $10.00 for parking.
