THE “CRAZIEST SHOW ON DIRT,” NIGHT OF DESTRUCTION, RETURNS TO PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY ON SATURDAY By Scott Daloisio (Perris, CA, August 1, 2023) In what may go down as its wildest season, Night of Destruction, presented by LKQ Pick Your Part, returns to Perris Auto Speedway this Saturday night, August 5th. The edge-of-your-seat night of dirt track demolition and family fun will include zany Double Deckers, wild Figure 8 racing, the Mighty Mini Stocks on the challenging road course, rough and tumble Demo Cross, and crazy Mini Stock Figure 8’s. Spectator gates for the night of clean family fun will open at 5:00 PM and the first crash will happen at seven. Fans are urged to come out early and bring all the kids in the neighborhood for the free autograph and candy giveaway session with all the drivers and the cars on the track from 5:15 to 5:45. “As hard as it seems to believe, there will only be two more nights of destruction in 2023 after this Saturday night’s show,” longtime track promoter Don Kazarian said. “2023 has featured some of the wildest Night of Destruction events we have ever seen. While it has been that way throughout the program it is especially noticeable in the wild Demo Cross main event at the end of the night. Every single race has been an out-and-out thriller. Each division has had racers with multiple wins thus far in 2023. Earl “Cox of Norco, has been the biggest winner thus far capturing three of the first four Figure 8 main events. The only other driver to win a Figure 8 main this season is Kaiser Permanente respiratory therapist and driver of the famous Bat Mobile, Jesse Gordon of Beaumont. Two drivers, Trebor Stephens of San Jacinto and Orange resident Rob Multhaupt have split the first four Demo Cross mains with two wins each. Their stranglehold on the division nearly came to an end last month when Multhaupt’s daughter Casey, a fourth grade schoolteacher from Murrieta, had the main in the bag before she got tangled up in a crash with two laps to go. Stephens took full advantage of her mishap for his second win of the year. Casey recovered to place second and another Multhaupt, her cousin Canyon of Anaheim, took third. Steven Green has emerged victorious in two of the first four Mini Stock Figure 8 main events. Darren Green and Jake Gray, both of Riverside, picked up the other wins. Steven Green and Gray also won in the Mighty Mini Stock road races. Riverside’s Kris Martin won the first two events on the curvy course. Since then Gray and Steven Green have notched the victories. Rounding out Saturday’s thrill-a-minute motorized mayhem show will be the crowd-favorite Double Deckers. With one car stacked on top of another with the driver in the bottom car controlling the gas pedal and the brakes and the driver in the top car steering, they are a sight to be seen. Lonnie Skillman and Don McCall took the first two wins in the class with Ashton Wendt and Joshua Sawvell triumphing at the last two. Adult tickets are $20.00. For kids six to twelve it is just $5.00 and children five and under are admitted free. The fairgrounds charge $10.00 for parking.
