AFTER A SEVEN-WEEK DELAY, PASSCAR SUPER STOCKS WILL MAKE 2025 SEASON DEBUT SATURDAY AT PERRIS By Scott Daloisio (Perris, CA, March 31, 2025) After a seven-week delay necessitated by a rainout on February 15th, the PASSCAR Super Stock Series will make its much-anticipated 2025 season debut this Saturday night, April 5th, at Perris Auto Speedway. The fastest stock cars at the track will be joined by the PASSCAR Factory Stocks, PAS Senior & Young Gun Sprints, and the headlining Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Cars, promising fans an action-packed night of racing. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 p.m. Early-arriving fans will be treated to half-price Budweiser Beer and two for the price of one Pepsi’s until 6:00. At 7:00, Steve Russell will officially commence the racing with his green flag, signaling the start of an exhilarating evening of high-speed thrills. 2024 PASSCAR Super Stock action courtesy of Kenny Lonngren. Last season in the super stock class, Yucaipa’s Chuck Becker and Billy Griffin of Buena Park tied for the championship. Over the years at the track that celebrated its 29th anniversary on Sunday, Becker and Griffin have each won four track championships. Becker is ready to launch his bid for title #5 on Saturday. On Monday, Griffin texted from an airport in Japan, where he was waiting to return home from vacation, that he was not sure if his car would be ready for Saturday night. Another driver returning on Saturday is Rick Arringdale. The Victorville resident was the PAS Stock Car champion in 1999 and 2001. He made a return to The PAS for one race in 2024. On September 21st, he shook off the rust and raced in the super stock class. He finished ninth after starting the 20-lap main event in 10th. Arringdale plans to have a busier season in 2025 and is looking to purchase a street stock car. Among the other drivers expected to race on Saturday are 2023 super stock champion Ricky Lee of Banning, 2022 titlist Tyson Talkington of Riverside, 2014 champ Blaine Whitson of Temecula, the father and son team of Mike and Tyler Gitmed from Chino, Tom Davis of Riverside, Canyon lake’s Tom Wesolowski, and Beaumont’s Steve Welch. For the PASSCAR Factory Stocks, PAS Senior & Young Gun Sprints, and the USAC/CRA Sprint Cars, it will be the second rodeo for each at The PAS in 2025. Canyon Lake’s David Lee, a two-time Factory Stock champion, and James Keller of Crestline are tied for the Factory Stock point lead. Stites won the season-opening main event on March 1st, and Keller placed second. However, based on a better heat race finish, Keller is tied for the point lead with Stites going into Saturday. Sixty-five-year-old Bob Suchy of Tustin opened the defense of his 2024 PAS Senior championship with a win on March 1st. On the same night, teenager Jake McKee took home the winner’s hardware in the Young Gun Sprint Car main. Both are expected to head their respective fields on Saturday. Tickets for those 13 and older for Saturday’s clay slinging show are $35.00. Seniors 65 and over get in for $30.00. It is $10.00 for kids 6-12, and children five and under are free. The fairgrounds charge $20.00 for parking. There will be plenty of tickets available at the ticket window on Saturday for everyone.
