Photo by Doug Allen. PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY HOSTS LKQ PICK YOUR PART NIGHT OF DESTRUCTION ON SATURDAY By Scott Daloisio (Perris, CA, April 9, 2025) It is that time of month again! This Saturday night, April 12, Perris Auto Speedway will host the “Craziest Show on Dirt,” LKQ Pick Your Part Night of Destruction. The evening of family fun and hardcore racing destruction will include daring figure 8 racing, a wild figure 8 trailer race, mighty mini stocks on the challenging road course, no holds barred demo cross, and the crazy double deckers. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 pm, and the first crash will take place around 7:01. Fans are urged to arrive early between 5:00 and 6:00 pm when Budweiser Beer will be half price and Pepsi will be two for the price of one. The Perris Chick-fil-A, at Hwy 215 and Nuevo Road, will be passing out free coupons to some of the early arrivals. Additionally, from 5:15 - 5:45, fans will be allowed onto the track to collect candy, mingle with all of the drivers, and get an up-close look at all of the cars. • Figure 8 Races: Watch as drivers navigate the intersecting track with skill and precision. • Crazy Figure 8 Trailer Race: Experience the chaos as vehicles tow trailers through the challenging figure 8 course. • No Holds Barred Demo Cross: Expect the unexpected in this unrestrained and action-packed race. • Mighty Mini Stocks: Feel the excitement as mini stocks tackle the challenging road course. • Zany Double Deckers: Enjoy the hilarity and excitement of vehicles stacked one on top of the other racing on the track. Popular Jesse Gordon, a respiratory therapist at Kaiser Permanente in Riverside, will be out to make it two wins in a row in the Figure 8 class. The daring driver, who with his wife, Aubree, is expecting their first child, thrilled the crowd by driving his “Bat Mobile” to the opening night win on February 22nd. The Beaumont, California resident won the track figure 8 title three years in a row from 2017 through 2019. He enters Saturday’s battle at the intersection with a three-point advantage over four-time series champion Earl Cox of Norco. After a one-two finish in the season-opening Demo Cross main, the wife and husband team of Erin and Brett Wayland will finally get back on the track this Saturday. Erin nabbed the initial win of the year, steering a brilliant pink SUV to the win in her first race! She became the first woman to win in the grinding world of demo cross. To add icing on the cake, she beat her husband, Brett, who finished second. Third place behind the Corona couple was their good friend, Alex Kiss of Riverside. Nicholas and Kyle Hoffarth of San Jacinto come into the night ranked first and second in the trailer figure 8 race class. They finished third and fourth on opening night but were elevated to first and second when the two cars who finished ahead of them were disqualified for rules violations. Riverside’s Darin Green bested past series champion Kris “Hot Wheels” Martin in the mini stocks and thus sits on top of the championship standings. The defending champion “Bug Ya’ Later” continued with its winning ways in the double deckers and leads the points going into Saturday’s race. Tickets for those 13 and over are $25.00. For kids 6 to 12, it is $10.00. Children 5 and under are free. The fairgrounds charge $20 for parking.
