Sprint Cars Headline Saturday’s Racing Program at Perris Auto Speedway By Scott Daloisio PERRIS, CA (June 19, 2025) — The Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Cars return to Perris Auto Speedway this Saturday night for what was originally scheduled to be their sixth appearance of the 2025 season. However, due to weather cancellations on February 13 and April 26, this weekend’s event will mark only the fourth race for the popular series at the famous Southern California half-mile clay oval. So far in 2025, Oxnard’s Ricky Lewis has dominated the USAC/CRA action at Perris, winning two of the first three main events — including the prestigious Salute to Indy over Memorial Day weekend. The only other winner this year at the track is 20-year-old David Gasper of Goleta, who captured the season opener on February 13. Lewis, who has been commuting from Indiana to compete in the series this summer, enters Saturday night with a slim 18-point lead over defending series champion R.J. Johnson of Laveen, Arizona. Gasper currently sits third in the standings, with A.J. Bender of San Diego and Austin Williams of Corona — a new father — rounding out the top five. All five are expected to be in action on Saturday. Across the full nine-race USAC/CRA season to date, only Lewis and Gasper have multiple wins. Lewis tops the chart with five victories, while Gasper has two. Jake Swanson of Anaheim and Templeton’s Kaleb Montgomery have one win each. Joining the Sprint Cars in Saturday’s exciting triple-header program are the PASSCAR Super Stocks and Street Stocks. In the Super Stock division, a fierce battle is brewing between Chuck Becker of Yucaipa and Tyson Talkington, a second-generation racer from Riverside. The two are tied atop the standings. Talkington, 38, won the championship in 2022, while Becker tied for the title last year with Buena Park’s Billy Griffin. Griffin, who missed the first race of the season, will return this Saturday in his familiar white and orange #2A. In the Street Stock division, Shawn Estes of Riverside leads the championship chase after winning the first two races of the year. Estes is seeking his first Perris Auto Speedway title since 2012. Trailing him by just six points is George Leventis of Rancho Palos Verdes. Evan Sennett (Riverside), Chad Mahony (Yorba Linda), and Tim “Shaggy” Shadduck (Hemet) round out the top five.
