Perris Promoter Thinks Night of Destruction Resembles Banana Ball By Scott Daloisio Perris, California — September 22, 2026 — When it comes to racing, Perris Auto Speedway promoter Don Kazarian has seen and done a lot in his lifetime. He is also a lifelong baseball fan. Over the past few years, Banana Ball has turned into a nationwide phenomenon. Kazarian believes the similarities in the two sports make Night of Destruction events auto racing’s version of Banana Ball. The Banana Ball format began when the Savannah Bananas, then a summer collegiate team, played a game against Lander University in 2018. That came a few years after Kazarian introduced what has become the wildly popular Night of Destruction at Perris. Both forms of entertainment have exploded in popularity in a relatively short time. Today, Banana Ball packs Major League Baseball stadiums, while Night of Destruction fills racetracks. “Banana Ball and Night of Destruction are very much alike,” Kazarian said. “Cosmetically, they are not so much alike when you consider the playing field to the track or the venues. However, they both have radical rules that separate them from traditional baseball and auto racing. The new rules in each sport add elements of excitement that appeal to fans.” Night of Destruction combines traditional racing with some extreme rules. Aside from safety requirements for the cars, there is essentially only one major rule once the green flag starts a race: no hitting another car in the driver’s door. That is strictly a safety rule. There are no move-over flags or yellow flags in Night of Destruction. If drivers want to spin out another competitor, it is legal. If they want to crash another racer or punt someone into the wall, whether it is the leader or a lapped car, it is all legal. “One of the biggest comparables between the two is the amount of children and young families that come to each,” Kazarian continued. “A majority of the fans are families. Mom, dad and the kids. They come to Night of Destruction because, like Banana Ball, it is nonstop, entertaining action. At intermission we have a dance battle for kids and we launch t-shirts into the stands. Then we get right back to crashing cars. The show usually lasts about two and a half hours. It is fun and fast, and there is no time for kids to get bored. They want to come back.” For fans who arrive early, they can go down on the track and see all of the cars, and meet the drivers from 5:15 – 5:45. Drivers will sign autographs, pose for photos, and will be passing out candy to kids. This Saturday, September 26, Night of Destruction returns with wild Figure 8 Racing, a Figure 8 Trailer Race, Mighty Mini Stocks on the challenging road course, rough-and-tumble Demo Cross, and the zany Double Deckers. In addition, Kazarian seems to have a trick up his sleeve, as a new event appears likely to be added to the show in 2027. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 p.m., with crashing starting at 7:00 on Saturday. Adult tickets are $25. Students ages 13 to 17 with school ID are $15. Tickets for children ages 6 to 12 are $10, while kids five and under are free. Active military personnel with proper ID are admitted for $5. Parking is $20 and the parking fee is payable by card only. Advance tickets for all PAS events are available at tix.com.
